Heaven

29 06 2008

HeavenA lot of people ask themselves why am I alive? What’s the purpose of my life?
A religious person would answer: ‘Well if you are a good person in this life then you will go to heaven’

That’s sort of odd. If I’m in heaven and I have everything I could possibly want what’s the purpose of that. Am I going to be happy for ever, for an unlimited amount of time. That don’t make any sense to me. To be alive for ever seems more like hell then heaven.
I just can’t figure it out. I guess, I will found out sooner or later. Either it’s true or not. But then it won’t matter anymore.

Rageh inside Iran

25 06 2008

‘Rageh inside Iran’ is a documentary about Iran by the BBC. I’ve got to say that it’s not that new, I think it’s at least a year old but this is the nicest documentary about Iran.
If you haven’t seen this before then this will be quite interesting for you.

My inspiration

25 06 2008

I believe that everybody has his inspiration. I didn’t just want to write a blog to have a blog. I got inspired by a very interesting blog. This Blog by an ‘Iranian Girl’ actually made me realize that changes are necessary and a very critical look at our surroundings and ourselves is truly necessary.
I really admire her courage and her braveness, because she is an activist in Iran fighting for freedom and equality of women in Iran.
I wish her luck and hope she will be successful.

The art of of well-beeing

24 06 2008

ERICH FROMMToday I came across something very interesting. In my phylosophy class we were talking about a book called ‘To have or to be’ by Erich Fromm. He is taking a critical look at the new evolved and experimantel society in the industrial countries. The people in such societies don’t seem to able to be happy, eventhough people in poorer countries can be happier and enjoy their lives a lot more, which does not seem to be logical since they don’t have enough money to live their lifes in a luxurious way. ‘So how come?’ was the question I was asking myself?

We came to the conclusion that we have a lot of wishes. We actually do believe that if we could make our wishes come true, we would be ultimately happy. But in fact life seems to become boring when there is no desire left, to live for.
A classmate of mine said: ‘Eventhough one has everything one desired, there still is a ‘black’ emptiness, which makes you think that you still haven’t reached ultimate happiness.’
Where pointed out: ‘I think that, that ‘emptiness’ can only be filled by our own. So if someone decides(!) to be happy, that person can be happy.’

As a conclusion I would say everyone is able to be happy. You decide.

My Question to the President

22 06 2008

AHMADINEJADJust today I bumped into the blog of Ahmadinejad. So I took a look at his blog and saw these comments on right side. Suddenly I remembered that my dad told me about this site. He also told me that you can actually send him a message, which sounded a bit strange to me because I never would have thought that you could actually talk to a president… I mean he must be quite busy ruling and doing the stuff a president does. Since then I wanted to send him an message just to see if he would reply. So this is exactly what I did. Just to give you a short summary of my attitude towards the whole Iran thing.

  1. Do you like Ahmadinejad?
I would say no because eventhough I really like his attitude towards the western countries including the nuclear issue, I don’t like his national very strict islamic policy.
  2. Nuclear Energy for Iran – Yes or No?
Defenitley yes as long as it is for the nuclear energy.
  3. Headscarf – Yes or No?
I don’t hate headscarfs. I mean if somebody wants to wear it, thats fine. But I don’t like it if somebody commands you to wear one.
  4. Is there going to be a military attack against Iran?
Don’t think so, unless somebody is dumb enough to do so.
  5. Would you welcome an attack against Iran?
NO, I’d rather leave the Mullahs in power.

That beeing said, here’s the message I sent Mr Ahmadinejad, I will post his Answer as soon as I get it:
